Slowing Down in Missoula

It sounds good to be off the grid, and I’m all for it, but being without cell service for a couple weeks is difficult, especially when you like to visit with your kids and grandchildren. So full bars in Missoula looked pretty good!

After a busy few weeks touring Canada and Glacier National Park, we arrived in Missoula, Montana and had a few easy days of rest. We stayed at the popular Jim & Mary’s RV Park. It’s popular because the sites are spacious and the entire park is well maintained. Each site had beautiful green grass and manicured flower beds. We enjoyed live music in the park and visiting with our new Texas friends, Donny and Donna. We met them in Glacier and they happened to be going to Jim & Mary’s the same time we were there.

The town of Missoula has much to offer in the way of music events, farmer’s markets, food trucks, and water activities on the Ford Hook River. There are many interesting breweries to tour and taste the different beers. Our favorite was Big Sky Brewing Co. where they make Moose Drool beer, our son’s favorite. The Missoula Farmers Market and the Missoula Peoples Market on Saturday were fun. We bought fresh fruits and vegetables for the week. Both markets are located downtown and can be accessed by walking or riding bikes from one end of the downtown area to the other. Missoula is an outdoorsy place so there are many paved bicycle paths and hiking paths that make exploring Missoula so much fun!

We made a day trip to Philipsburg, MT to visit the small downtown, the famous candy shop and learn about the sapphire mining operations. The drive over, about one hour, was very scenic with the beautiful mountains and rivers.
